1998 Mountaineer with cylinder misfire codes.

hello i have a 98 mountaineer and it had a cylinder misfire so i gave it a tune up and then the misfire started to move. it was cyl 6 and now it is cyl 7 & 8. i was wondering if anyone has a clue as to why i get this misfire and possibly have a solution thank you

Did you replace the plug wires? How long before the 7-8 misfire code showed up?

In my experience, misfires reported on the 5.0 engine are almost always fuel injector related.

I have pulled plug wires from my mounty while i had it and had no misfire codes--just a tidbit for you to chew on.

You might check the fuel pressure.

Welcome to this forum! I've moved this thread into the stock 95-01 section. A friend of mine had a problem with a couple of cylinders misfiring. I checked the voltage going to each spark plug, and those two cylinders with the codes had a weak spark. I replaced the coil pack, and the check engine light went away.

yeah i guess the coil packs are shot. i had a friend of mine look at it
