Hi, i just had my ranger smog checked for the first time. I was wondering if anyone knew what these results mean. It didn't pass, and im hoping someone could point me in the direction of what needs to be done to fix the problem(s)?

Its a '99 ranger XLT with the 3.0L flex fuel v6. Manual trans if that helps.

Anyway it passed everything in the m2 : 25 MPH test. But in the 15MPH test it failed the HC (PPM) section, and the NO (PPM) sections .

In the HC the max allowed emissions was a 53...it measured a 106 :(

In the NO (PPM) section the max emissions allowed was 522 while the amount measured was an 821 ?

I know there are things to do prior to a smog check i.e. : freeway driving, change oil / plugs / wires . I did drive one the freeway to warm the motor to normal running temp. But i didnt do the other things because they were done 1000 miles ago. ( i will change before trying again) . besides these 3 things, are there any things i should check for such high readings at low speed ?

I replaced the EGR valve and Air pressure sensor recently chasing a check engine light. This seems to be resolved if that helps at all.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks
