1999 Ford Explorer XLT
Hi I got my 1999 explorer xlt 5.0 v8 awd just over a year ago from someone on craigslist. It has had this problem since I got it. When it is cold it fires up instantly but after you drive for a while and warm it up park for a little (such as if you go into store) then go to start it again you have to crank it for about 10 seconds before it will fire up. Dont get me wrong it fires up EVERY TIME! But I do not know what is causing this issue. The person I got it from said it had to do with back pressure from exhaust leak. The guy at the part store said something about a coolant temp sensor. I know it has a bad injector on the 4th cylinder and this causes a missfire and slight shake. I do not know if that could be the cause. Also with the shake I spoke of it only shakes a little at idle and then when I am driving it shakes a bit worse but only when I am accelorating with my rpm between 1100-1600 and I just find that wierd. If I hit the pedal harder to kick up the rpms a bit it stops shaking. Just want a little input. Thanks.:exp:
