Joined the forum a while ago but never did new member introduction. I own the two Fords in the title. Original owner of the 1999 Explorer which now has 176,000 miles and is driven about 6000 miles a year now. I bought the Bronco II in 1990 from the original owner for my kids to drive to high school. Still own it with 165,000 miles on it. Drive it occasionally now.

Great vehicles. My First gen Mountaineer has taken me anywhere I have wanted to go.

Both solid vehicles.

These Mountaineers are typically considered a second gen, since it’s platform is identical to the Explorer, even though it was introduced in 96.

Welcome!!

I understand that. But there were no mountaineers in the first gen explorer chassis. Hence my first gen mountaineer comment.

There is also not a first gen Mountaineer forum. Your postings would only fit in the second generation forum, hence my comment. Calling it a first gen will likely be confusing since it’s entirely a second gen Explorer with a few cosmetic differences.

Welcome. The 99 Explorer is a good one, my wife is driving her 2nd 99 Sport, & she had a 1985 Bronco II when we started dating 35 years ago, to bad we sold it.
