1999 Explorer Sport Transmission Identification

I bought a used 1999 Explorer Sport in January. Last week, my transmission took a crap. My tech dropped the trans pan and there were a lot of bits and pieces in there. I am looking into a used transmission. I was asked when the Explorer was built. Is there a difference in transmissions with an Explorer built on 10/1998 than on one built 07/1999? From all my research to date, Ionly see that this year Explorer uses a 5R55E. How do I identify if the trans is a
5R55E?

seems to me I've read (here) that some of these transmissions have an extra electrical connection, but I don't know what years this refers to.

If buying a used on match the ID Code on the tag on Passager side of transmission...and or VIN number not just the type. It will look like this on the tag...PKE-BC2
this is off a mustang...so find your code first then the transmission.
