1999 Mountaineer subwoofer replacements

Ok the hard part is done i have the rear factory sub removed. I cant for the life of me find the exact specs for a replacement subwoofer. I read it could be 6.5" or 8" or 4ohms or 8ohms. I measured the one that i took out and it looks like the diameter is 8.5". Are speaker sizes measured for the cone or the whole speaker? I just want a direct drop in replacemnt sub. I live 10mins away from parts express (www.partsexpress.com). I just want something cheap (under $30-40) that will sound somewhat decent and they seem to fit that requirement. Please help me pick the right speaker. thanks in advance

I literally just replaced my stock sub (8") in my '99 Sport this past weekend with a JL 8w1v2 4ohm sub. I love it. Better than stock but not over the top. Best part is it fits right in the stock location. All I had to do was redrill the holes because they didn't line up. So far I'm very happy with it. Good luck!

If you live that close to Parts Express, email them, and ask them for a suggestion. I know they have something budget priced, and would work well.

I have dealt with them in the past, and will purchase in the future from them

I emailed them actually this past weekend and they wanted to know exact specs (ie. actual dimensions of the woofer, the cutout, and impedance of the woofer. a rough estimate of the enclosure). Thats why i'm trying to figure out this info here.
