I have a 1999 ford ranger that I just bought from a friend and the abs light stays on all the time. They had the brake roters turned and new brakes put on it. The mechanic hooked his diagnostic machine to it and said he could not find any problems. Doe anyone have an answer for the problem?

I am willing to bet the sensor has just been broken or unhooked. I have had the same problem w/ my Bronco for 3 years. I went muddin' in it once. The light came on. I have replaced the brakes and it is still on. I asked several people and they all told me it has no effect on the operation. It is simply a sensor.

You need to replace the rear vehicle speed sensor locate ontop of your pumkin. Napa sell it for $7 and the light will go away..
