Hi Guys,
I have a 1st Gen XLT with the Casette and "Premium Sound" (has DNR on the tape door)
I replaced the head unit with an aftermarket Kenwood because the sound quality was poor on the factory unit, and tuning would fail all together sometimes, I thought the sound was the head unit, but apparently has to do with the speakers being blown. (When I installed the new Head Unit, I bypassed the amp etc).
I like the setup of the factory unit (yeah I'm nuts) so I was wondering if anyone has done and exploratory surgery on their first gen head units.
I know 2nd gen trucks had issues with the displays failing, and that can be fixed by soldering some pieces, so I was wondering if the same could be done here.
Anyone try?
TIA
