So I looked throughout this forum and couldn't find a topic on either of these 2 topics, so I put them in here....I have 2 questions that I think should be easy to answer, I just don't know the answers...

I just got my '94 Explorer Sport and am trying to do some speaker type stuff to it...

I haven't registered it so on the (illegal) drive home I was listening to the radio and it worked fine. So a few days later I go and start getting measurements....and long story short, the radio won't turn on. Neither will the dome light inside. I tried the fuse game and they seem to be fine so I didn't replace them. What should I do?

The other question I think I know the answer to, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to double check...

I have a sub box built and have 2 12's going in it with their own amp. A friend brought up the point that having a 2nd amp for just the (Kenwood) 6x8's would be a good idea....he said it would sound better. My question is would it? And if I did do this would I run the remote wire to the amps from the headunit and split to go to both amps and just wire the speakers accordingly....or is there another way to do this that I'm missing?

Thanks a lot guys....

1. Change the fuse anyway. I've had some that didn't look popped, but they were. It could also be a loose connection at the fuse box. I have this problem with my girlfriend's Mystique. If I move the fuse box too much, the speedo goes out.

2. That's dependent on your tastes. It may sound better to you, if you like to actually hear the song, and not just drown out the song with bass. If the amps are mounted close enough, you could just 'piggy back' the 12v remote wire coming from the head unit to the first amp, and hook up a jumper wire from one amp to the other.

If you're like me, and love to be loud, and shake the body off of your vehicles. You'd probably keep both amps to the subs. If you like some clarity to the music, it would probably be best to try the 6x9's, as you could always revert back.

I'll try the fuse thing...thanks.

As for the dual amp thing - I just want a good overall sound with good bass of course.

The reason I was mainly looking to do this is because my head unit is only putting out 40 watts to each speaker when the 6x8's have a max of 240 watts....

For wiring a 2nd amp, will I be okay with just 1 amp wiring kit? - or do I need a 2nd?

Just one amp wiring kit, and a power distribution block

Power Distribution Block

Your 6 x 8 are most likely 240 watts peak, and only around 50 to 75 watts rms. I prefer the amp on sub and amp on 6 x 8's method myself...

My set up

^ Thank ya...

So I got 2 subs, 4 6x8's, and 2 amps.....I got the distribution block and now I'm good to go.

Now next question - do I need a compacitor? - would it make any difference?
