While installing a new head unit in my 04 XLT, I noticed an additional 2 wire harness plugged into the back of the stock stereo. If I remember correctly, the wires were either yellow (maybe brown) and black. Not knowing what to do with it, I left it disconnected and tucked it into the dash with the rest of the harnesses.

Everything seems to be functioning as it should. Anybody know what those two wires go to? I’m pretty sure it’s just a power and ground…for something. Maybe I have a stock sub and don't know it? hah

So I did some more searching, found a wiring schematic. It looks like those wires could possibly be VSS and airbag contact. Sound right?

Yup, it's exactly that. Vehicle Speed Sensor and Airbag. You don't need them in an aftermarket unit.

Cool. Good to know. Thanks for the verification!
