My 2000 ford explorer xlt 4.0 ohv thermostat started leaking coolant around like the motor. I don't see where the housing can be replaced. What exactly needs to be replaced to fix this problem?

The thermostat housing itself rarely leaks, but it has an O-ring type gasket that seals the housing to the engine block that will leak. The housing is held on by 3 bolts. Any auto supply store should stock the new gasket/O-ring.

First make sure the leak isn't coming from where the radiator hose seals onto the thermostat housing. The fix might be as simple as tightening the hose clamp...
