2000 AWD Xploder from Turbo back to NA

Cool, thanks for the info. I just went and bought a cheap HID kit on eBay.. Didn't need anything spectacular so picked up a waterproof 55w 6k kit with everything for $40 shipped, lol. Just need to replace the current eBay kit that worked fine for 3-4 years or so. Ballast & bulbs have 2 year warranty so if I get 2 years or so from it I figure that's good enough haha. I wanted 5k but noticed my stupid fog light bulbs are 8k (non HID but look ice white with a tiny tint of blue, almost 6k looking) so settled on 6k so they kind of match some lol :D

Anyone have a link to somewhere that sells a direct fit headlight house that is clear versus the stock rippled look? Just the housing not the bulbs and such.

Never-mind found some decent ones on ebay.. Going to maybe pick them up and the tanks for the engine bay (coolant overflow and wiper fluid) this weekend :D

Ok... Swapped out and re-wired my HIDs... Put in a complete new set... 55w 6k HIDs... Only took about 30 minutes to swap everything. The hardest part was the driver side as I had to pull out the entire battery to make room but after that it was smooth sailing.

Nice job!
Im embarrased to say Iits been 2 years and I havn't mounted my transformers.

Haha it was not too bad :D Hardest part was ripping off the old ballasts which were super double sided taped on there... Pried the old ones off with a flat-head screwdriver and cleaned up the spot as best as I could... Mounted on the new ballasts with the provided kit double sided mounting tape tho the passenger side one I guess I did not clean good enough and was not holding very well so took it off, re-cleaned, and added some additional double sided tape and remounted it. Mounted it further up so as to not obstruct the coolant overflow tank as the old ballast use to do.

Wiring was easy and I spliced in new fuse holders w/10A fuses in-line of the + side to replace the old corroded fuse holders that were installed with the old kit that was on the truck.

The plugs were all plug and play as well... Originally I had a super fast flicker on my passenger side headlight but I installed the new fuse holder and fuse (had done so months ago on the driver side) and the issue seemed to clear up especially when I start the truck so no biggie.

The HID kit I picked up was: http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/160853539114

$42.99, not a bad price and the kit had everything included and seemed made of pretty high quality stuff... Sure, not TOP of the line or anything BUT if it lasts a few years I'd be more than happy at that cost lol..

Looks AWESOME man. Our trucks are pretty identical as far as trim level goes. Love to see some more pics of the truck at different angles and at night. On another note slightly off that topic, What spark plug wires you running on your truck?

Awesome. Yeah, I def need to clean her up and get some better pictures!

The wires are Taylor 8mm Spiro-Pro Spark Plug Wires and they look pretty nice and don't have the problem of falling off the damn spark plugs like my stock motorcraft wires kept doing lol.

I also got in 2 torson key adjustment bolts to lift up my front end an inch or so to get the car from resting on the suspension bump stops and riding like **** over bumps... Plus, my alignment is being thrown way off which has been affecting ride quality as well.

I asked because I'm looking to replace the store brand wires I have on now on mine. Where you get the taylor wires from?

Wires are great.. Came with 4 heat socks as well (of which I added 8 more heat socks to cover all the boots and some additional area around the headers)... Picked them up off of Summit.

Check on Aurora plug wires too, Brad tried them and liked them a lot. I may need a lesser set for my other truck if I keep it, and I think those were not quite as high as Magnecor.

Snapped a couple pictures of my HIDs at night... It was raining out pretty good so I have weird purple refraction effects lol... But the lights do not look purple in person so it looks kind of crazy haha:

And a couple pictures from next to the truck (and inside the truck) for viability check:

Also put on my most recent variation of the tune from Henson and took it for a data-log spin... Driving real nice!

Ohhh and for comparison purposes... This was a picture of the OLD HIDs from a year or so ago (was not raining so no purple effects lol) and one of my fog lights was broken and they were both stock bulbs so I kept them off back then:

Where can those be had from? And Wiz I love the vividness on the HID's. Looks very clean.. Have you ever had an issue with the bulbs sporadically not coming on every time you switch them on?

Just ordered 6 qts of AMSOIL SAE 5W-20 Signature Series 100% Synthetic Motor Oil (an extra qt for spare) and an AMSOIL EAO11-EA 25,000-Mile Ea Oil Filter... Hopefully it comes in time to do a MUCH NEEDED oil change this weekend lol.

I don't know if Brad found a best place to get them, but a search shows them on eBay and some online sources. I think he may have gotten them directly from them.

Thank you!

And yes I've noticed on occasion when I turn lights on with engine off the passenger side light will flicker super fast for a minute before solidifying as it warms up and also sometimes won't come on at all unless I turn light back off and on then it's fine... Lol.

Change your air filter too if you can, their EA filter will keep the oil much cleaner. I have two, they cost about $30 or so, and last four years(vacuum once a year). It's cool to have transparent oil.

Yeah I just put on a brand new AMSOIL blue air filter a few months back when I modified my MAC intake for a 90mm LMAF :-D I think I posted pix earlier in this thread... Fits nicely!

DOH!!! One of my fairly new fog light bulbs just took a **** on me :-/

I guess this is a good opportunity for me to buy new 6k fog light h1 bulbs to more closely match my new 6k HIDs.. Lol.

I hope to put my new torsion key bolts in this weekend as well to lift my front up an inch or so to get her off the bump stops so it can ride un-****ty for a change haha.

Need new front tires still and then an alignment as the car shakes a bit at 70+ mph :-/

Ooo.. And I still need to rip apart my license plate lighting and see wtf is going on back there lol... Quick glance revealed some crazy hack rig job back there lol.

Got my AMSOIL in yesterday, woohoo.. Looks like new oil and new screws in this weekend... And maybe troubleshoot my license plate lights lol.

Weekend was a BUST :-/

Rained all day Saturday and some of Sunday and my garage is filled with "****" so I couldn't get any work done outside on the truck.. I did just get in my new fog light bulbs so HOPEFULLY I can get the bulbs in, oil in, and the bolts in and lift the front end up a half inch to an inch (tho I love the low front stance but resting on the suspension bump stops is horrible lol), and figure out the issue with the license plate bulbs lol.

I STILL also need to get off my ass and put in my 1" IMF spacer lol.
