I have a 2000 Explore that the theft light rapidly flashes and won't start. It never did that before till I replaced the fuel pump. The battery was unhook for two days. I tried to do what the book and the internet says but no luck. Does anyone got ant advice? Thanks

If you have a spare key try that.

Your key may be bad.

First check ALL fuses the PATS system draws power from unrelated fuses.

For example the cigarette lighter fuse powers the theft light but not the PATS.

Power to the PATS module can be from any fuse and is not marked I think for obvious security reasons.

Loss of power will not erase key data, so if it is a fuse it will still retain your key codes.

PATS not affected by battery disconnect

I have a 2000 Sport and I didn't have a PATS issue even when my battery was disconnected for several months. The PCM disables the fuel injectors when it detects a non PATS programmed key. Do you have remote start capability or an aftermarket theft alarm? Those are frequently the source of battery disconnect/reconnect issues.
