Purchased brand new after graduating from college, this truck is tough to junk for me so I desperately need some assistance.
- Initially it would surge between 2nd and 3rd gear, and drove fine otherwise to and from work.
- AAMCO pulled the code via MODIS which turned out to indicate an "3rd Gear Incorrect Ratio"
- AAMCO requested $750 to drop transmission so had Ford do initial hands-on diagnosis (w/verbal guarantee of successful repair)
- Ford replaced valve body and gasket claiming gasket blown
- Ford stated no issues with solenoids or speed controller
Unfortunately, Ford's verbal guarantee did not mean much as the truck now has a new transmission issue instead of the original surge. The transmission refuses to shift to 2nd gear "at the very first stop" of the day. This could be a stop sign, traffic light, etc. But usually happens at the first or second stop of my daily drive and drives fine for the rest of the day no matter how many miles.
Is this an intermediate band issue? Has anyone run into a similar problem?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
