2000 xlt

I am trying to hook up trailer lights to my 2000 xlt, I bought the plug that the parts store said was for the truck. Now I have crawled under that thing for 2 days.The plug is not where I was told it should.I did find two plugs,under each tail light. Any sugjestions as to where this single plug is?

Usually pinned up behind the rear bumper, or above the spare tire somewhere. It's pinned on top of something if I remember right, so it's a little hard to see. Might have to move the spare out of the way if you can't find it.

I have a 2000 xlt, it is right under the tail light on the drivers side. It is hard to see.
I have the v8, I have no idea if it is different in models with the v6.
