2000 XLT
G'Evening, all.

Lately, my 2000 XLT has been shaking once I hit 60 MPH. It's not a overbearing, uncontrollable shake, but it's noticeable. I figured it may be an alignment issue, so I got it realigned and rotated my tires. Nothing came of that. The only reason I ask is because, while it's not a huge deal right now, I don't want it to be in the future. If it's some part that needs replaced, I'd rather have it looked at now rather than later.

Any idea what could cause this?

have you had your tires balanced?

I'm a noob with cars. I didn't know balancing tires was something I could do. I'll try that next.

yes, tires must be balanced (and re-balanced periodically). if they get out of balance, you'll get a vibration right around 60 miles an hour. tire places will suggest you get them rotated and re-balanced every 7,500 miles. i rotate mine at around 7,500, but i only re-balance them if i start getting the vibration, or when the tires are about 1/2 worn.

BTW, if you off road and go through mud, make sure you get all the dirt/mud out of the backs of your wheels or you'll cause an imbalance.

If your tires aren't out of balance, have someone check out your CV axles.
