2001 Explorer Sport Fender Flares/Coverings

Hello all,

I have a 2001 Explorer sport, and the rear quarter panels have some ugly rust on the wheel lip's. I have searched ebay, google, and this forum, but could not find anywhere to get quarter panel "flares" or some type of trim to hide the rust.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't think you're going to find anything unless you go custom, as the '01 Sport's never had a factory flare, as the body cut was different than the pre '01 Sport.

Kacz, where are you in Ohio?

I'm parting out a 97 Explorer Sport 2 DR. I have the fender flares and rocker trim and they look very much like the first picture in your post. If your near Elyria (Lorain County), I'd say come up and take a look for yourself and see if they would work for you.

You'd have to use a bushwacker kit, or trim up something custom- some have used semi truck adhesive flare, etc... ldyhunter used these, not sure if they would cover much. I think it's city bus fender stripping.

You can try the Gen II, but the body and cut lines are going to be a lot different and will be a lot of cut up ends. It's just a totally different body shape.

Here are a couple pics I've taken previously for another guy - we couldn't get them shipped for any sane amount so the deal fell through. I also have the rocker panel trim which matches the fender flares and ties the front to the back.

Seeing that you are close, I would suggest coming out and seeing them in person and then make your decision. The parts are at my shop which is in a hangar at Lorain County Airport, 44050 Russia Rd just southwest of Elyria, estimate about 13 miles from where you indicated.
