My '01 Explorer Sport just hit 200k miles. I noticed yesterday that it was not heating up very quickly and the heat was blowing cold. It finally warmed up and the heat started to blow hot but it took about 25 minutes. On my way to work this morning I was having the same problem but then my temp gauge starting climbing rapidly. It took another 5 minutes for the heat to start blowing hot and then the engine cooled down and it was fine.
I replaced my radiator in August and my thermastat has been replaced also. I checked for leaks and checked my coolant level also; all were fine. The cold Colorado weather is no fun and I really don't want to be without heat. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
