2001 Ford Explorer XLT
Hello,

I'm going to be purchasing a 2001 Explorer XLT from a friend of mine and it does not have the factory subwoofer. I would like to add one to this vehicle and I was wondering are all explorers wired up for the factory sub? I would be going to a local junkyard to get one, so I wasn't sure if I'd have to grab the whole wire harness also? The radio is the cd/cassette combo, not sure what the back of the radio looks like since I won't be picking this vehicle up for another two weeks yet. The last explorer I had was a 93 sport, so I'm not too familiar with the 2001 model.

thanks much!

Joe

I'm gonna go with no. You'll likely need all the stereo components+wiring of the donor vehicle.

Or just put a new head unit and aftermarket sub/amp like I always do :)

Save the headache. Just use an OEM enclosure with aftermarket sub, aftermarket amp, and a high-low converter.

That's what I did for my "Budget Bass" project in my 96.
