2001 89,000 mile Explorer XLS, V6 4.0. While driving, a loud exhaust sound started from under hood. No smoke, no over-heat. Engine light comes on. Its been determined that it blew out a spark plug, rear passenger side and about to blow the front passenger side as well. Mavis declined the job. A neighborhood mechanic has the car and has yet to make a determination on cause and repair. A friend at a fleet service said probably just needs to be replugged or perhaps helicoil.
Any thoughts?
