2001 ford explorer drivers side door lock

Hi, my girlfriend has a 2001 ford explorer. The remote entry wont unlock the drivers side door although it will unlock all other doors. The button on the arm rest will lock/unlock all doors except the drivers door. To lock the drivers door she has to manually push down the rod that's positioned at the top of the door panel.
What's the problem and how do I fix it?
