2001 xlt 5.0 not running right when warmed up

ok i have a 2001 xlt 5.0 when i first start it up for the day it runs perfect until it warms up a bit then is starts chugging under a load (accelerating) but i hold it steady rpm it runs smooth the engine light came on but i disconnected the batt and it hasnt came on since but the condition is still present when it warms up it accelerates like crap, what could it be?

ps it has 100000 miles on it the spark plugs were changed at 70000

Your first mistake was disconnecting the battery. You should have had the codes read first. There is no way to tell what's wrong with out them.

However it won't be long until the CEL comes back on.
