2002 Explorer 4.0 old gas leak smell coming from a sensor in rear

I have been noticing on my 2002 Explorer an old gas smell coming from it. I went under it to find a sensor of some sort leaking gas slowly (or what appears to be gas) I couldn't see it drip but I can see where it previously dripped. It's not on, but near where the filler tube meets the tank. What is this Sensor?
