2002 Explorer and trailer brakes

I bought a 2002 Explorer with the class III/IV hitch.
Has anyone hooked up a brake controller yet.
The Explorer is prewired and the dealer said there is
a "plug in" located under the dash near the steering
wheel. Any help would be great

Trailer brakes

Yes I have wired an electri trailer brake in my 2001 sport. We tow a 24' camper. I didn't use any of the supply plugs or original harnesses. I simply hard wired it per the schematics supply. I haven't had any probems. I felt that as simple as it is to wire I would be more comfortable wiring everything direct as opposed to tring to make the factory plugs work.
