2002 Explorer XLT Transmission

Hello, I just purchased an used 2002 Ford Explorer XLT. I have been reading and it seems a lot of people have had problems with the transmissions. My Explorer has 82,000 miles on it and everything seems fine with the transmission so far. Is there anything I can do to prevent problems? Thanks!!

Go ahead and install a external transmission filter and maybe another transmission cooler to help extend its life. If it has not already been done you should also just replace the filter inside the transmission by dropping the pan.

Here is a strange answer to transmission problems and other problems. I replaced my battery and it fixed the tranny, transaxle, and door lock problems. Don't ask me for an explaination other than it worked.
