My friend has a 2002 Mountaineer with the 4.6L v8. The coolant crossover has a crack in it, so I need to replace it. Does anyone know what over Ford 4.6L intake manifolds will work for this vehicle?

I used a Mustang GT intake manifold on my Grand Marquis, so I was wondering if these intakes would work. Also, does anyone know if a manifold out of a 99-02 Expedition or 99-03 F150 would work?

Dorman makes a replacement manifold for $175 on RockAuto.com plus they have a 5% off for forum members.

The mustang gt manifold works as that is what I installed on my '02 4.6L Limited. F150/Expedition/Super Duty manifolds have longer runners and as such make the throttle body sit higher which may cause hood clearance issues.

Although it appears that this question has been answered satisfactorily, I figured I would through in my findings as well. I am currently in the middle of swapping in a 2003 Mustang GT engine into my 2002 Explorer. I have both intakes laying here side by side.

The plastic lower intakes looks exactly the same. Some of the stuff connected to the upper has different electrical connectors. If you are replacing only the lower intake portion, then that shouldn't matter much to you.

I just did the swap and used a 2002 crown victoria intake manifold. I just needed the alternator bracket out of the vic as well, so no more engine cover i suppose. Thanks for the help
