On the 2003 Explorer Sport 4.0 sohc pvc valve...it looks like it's
heated using a coolant line from the manifold. It appears that
a metal "horseshoe" piece of tube goes around the center of
the body of the pcv valve. Can anyone tell me if this "horseshoe"
piece of tubing is rigidly attached to the pcv valve or will the pcv
valve rotate within the piece of tube. If the pcv does rotate within
the piece of tube...can you rotate the pcv in the rocker cover to
remove it without disconnecting the coolant lines?
Looking at online pictures of the valve at the various autoparts
websites that offer aftermarket valves...it looks like you can buy
just a valve or buy a valve with the horeshoe piece on it...so I
assume you can snap the tubing off the pcv valve. I've read where
I belive the motorcraft valve comes with the hose that runs up to
the intake manifold/throttle body...and appears to be more expensive.
I haven't pulled the pcv yet to see what the part number on it
actually is...but my owners manual calls for a motorcraft EV243
though the motorcraft website as well as rockauto and
autopartsgiant call for a EV268. I assume the EV268 replaced the
EV243 number. Also...there should be a part number for the tube
that does run from the pcv to the manifold/throttle body. (Local
dealer came up with something that doesn't even look close).
Can anyone provide the correct motorcraft numbers for the valve
and the tube (or the complete assembly)?
Thanks,
Geo.
