I have a 2003 Explorer XLT V6 4.0L with about 142K on it. Recently picked it up used from an owner. Runs pretty well but I do feel like its not accelerating to its full potential. When I go I can hear it shifting gears from 1st to 2nd fine, but 2nd to 3rd seems to take it a second. If I don't have to pull out of a drive way too fast it gets up to speed just fine but if for any reason I need to get up and going it won't pick up speed too quickly.
To my knowledge the transmission hasn't been serviced recently, and I plan on taking it somewhere very soon. I can feel it buck very very slightly on occasion, but nothing to jolt me too much.
I am by no means a gear head so any suggestions on what I should ask about or check for, any help is appreciated.
