2003 cobra vs explorer 1/4 mile

ok what i want to know is hpw much rwhp do i need to beat a 2003 cobra with the 390 hp? what about the older cobra's? i have the typical 4 door v8 right now but this would be after i built the engine of course. i know there is a calculation for the weight of my vehicle to horsepower ratio to get it to such and such 1/4 mile time. and then all i need is the 1/4 mile time by the cobra. any help would be much appreciated. thanks.

I was on the Cobra section of www.Stangnet.com and found this thread of a guy dynoing his 03' Cobra, this proves they are beast, I've already seen my friends 03' put some serious numbers down, and this guy only had about $300 in mods to his 03'

that is truly amazing.

Best friends has a 2-valve O2 GT. With longtubes, 4.10s, drag radials, custom chip, cold air, x-pipe, flows with dumps, he ran a 12.85 in Seguin,TX.

I thought that was pretty damned good. Since then, he got a Tri-Ax shifter and he just purchased a basic 100 shot NX kit.

That wil be fun...

<-------Dreams of a Lighting.....painted True Blue, damn i love that color. Damn i love that truck.

Thats a good time for a GT with bolt ons, but 4.10's are a little extreme for a GT, 3.73's work the best in a n/a and supercharged GT's, while 4.10's and higher work awsome on Cobras. Either way, you notice a big difference because the stock 3.27's suck in both cars and engines and knock them out of the powerband.

He's gotta be a good driver, because 4.10's in a GT would almost render 1st gear useless b/c it doesn't rev like the dohc engine.

yeah good day today

well i got my dual exhaust w/ 2 series 40 delta flowmasters installed on my truck today. they sound so mean. i also was finally able to order my supercharger today. i decided to go with the powerdyne xb-1a kit versus the bd-11. for the boost i want to make later on down the road it would be cheaper in the long run to just get the gear driven head unit first. plus also it will sound mean as f*ck. i cannot wait. once i do that then i can also get my shift kit ordered here soon and also get Dan to burn me a chip once i make contact with him. and then when tax time hits it is N02 kit and MAS time. and then i will be finished till i can save a little more money up. by the way in case some people have been looking for a s/c for their explorers you most likely found proficientperformance.com has the cheapest explorer kit for a 99+ at like $2954 for the kit, and is you wanted to upgrade to the xb-1a head unit you could only do it through superchargersonline.com which the total price was like $3885 well i just got off of the phone with Tony from superchargersonline.com and since i told him that base s/c to base s/c kit from the proficient performance place beat them by like $350 he offered to beat their price so he offered the base bd-11 kit to me for a flat $2900 instead of $2950 for the proficient price. and for the upgraded xb-1a kit which was supposed to cost $3885 not counting shipping and handling which is like $45, he got the whole xb-1a kit to me for $3480 and they paid the shipping costs, just to give you an idea the same companies listed prices on the net was $3299 for the bd-11 and the xb-1a was $3885, about a $450 difference if you count the no shipping. just though i would tell you alll that so maybe it would help you save some money if you ever decided to order from someone like that. i will post this in a few of the other threads i am active in too so dont be surprised to see this in more than just here. hope this helps you. Rob

Id say well over 400 hp at the fly, but be sure to race a stock one. Because those engines love bolt ons! exhaust, a chip, and some intake stuff and its damn near 500 at the fly if not over. Careful and good luck!

oh yeah i will most definately only race a completely stock 2003. otherwise i would get my ass handed to me in the worst way. i will see what i will be running here in the next 3 weeks or so. i will be going to the track here on the 29th mostlikely to see what it is running now. that may be a baseline run or i may just install my s/c by then depending on how long it takes to get here. not yet in 2003 territory or even close yet. but maybe in a few months i will be. as for now i would be satisfied with an older cobra kill. i saw one around town here. maybe i will go to the president casino down here and see if he wants to race in a little while.
