Just bought an Skyfi XM radio to put into my '03 XLT. I plan on using the cassette as the interface. My problem is that I don't want to have the wire hanging down the front of my dash, so I want to remove the funky carbon looking dash and run the wire behind it. My question is:
Is there an easy way to pull that cover off without breaking any of the clips?

Addionally, how hard is it to pull up the center console to get to power?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Right now with all of the wires hanging about I'm expecting to make a sudden turn and end up all entangled in this nighmare and never be able to get out!

Welcome to the site!! The '02 is not here rite now or I would go out and take a look. You SHOULD be able to just give it a good tug and it should come off, but thats easier said than done. I've tried and I can't get the thing off!!

As far as power, I think there is a screw or something underneath the black rubber mat towards the fron of the center console. I don't know the '02 that well, so I maybe just thinking that one up. I'm not sure.

Where at in Pittsburgh are you located? I'm about an hour east of it, around apollo and vandergrift.

Thanks IAmTodd, I ended up using a plastic putty knife to pull a side away then gave it a firm tug to remove it. My concern was that the clips were similiar to the door clips that never seem to go back the right way.
Got the XM mounted with no wires showing.

I love my '03 the only gripe I have is that the AM/FM radio sucks for reception (That's why I got the XM) I've had the dealer look at it 3 times but he hasn't been able to figure out why all of the FM statios fade in & out even when I'm in town.

I'm from the Hamar / North Hills area of the burg.

Glad to hear you got it apart!! Are they just metal clips that hold it on place? Just so I know;) The only thing I hate about my parents is that the front seats sit high. Its got the sunroof, so my head always rubs the roof. But my sister has a newer '02 with the seats with the headrests and they sit lower. Both have power seats and sunroofs, and both are down as far as they can go. So Ford must've changed track systems or something of the nature!
