Hi All -
Picked up a 2003 Explorer Limited. After doing a bunch of research I discovered I had the torque converter rattle that seems so common in explorers. I took it to AAMCO and they confirmed the torque converter was bad. Called around for best price and finally went to my regular mechanic. The best price I could find on the converter was 313.00 through advanced auto parts for PN FM-138-8, which is supposed to be an exact replacement for my vehicle. I had the replacement done and rattle is gone (I have different rattles now) but my MPG says 9.5 after the swap (yesterday, so its a fresh computer reset) I'm trying to find the stock specs for the torque converter. I expected things to change a bit but mileage was 15-15.6 before the swap. Any advice? Am I just too paranoid too early? Just not giving the computer enough time?
Thanks!
