I have a 2003 sport trac with a 4.0, will the engine from a 2003 4 door work? I have been told it has to be a engine from another sport trac. Both vin's are E vin's.

I don’t believe there is anything specific about the sport trac. All year 4.0 SOHC blocks are compatible, I believe it’s the heads and emissions that have differences.

I know you can swap over stuff to the donor engine to make it work.

The 2003 4 door has a 5R55S and the sport trac has a 5R55E, I assume it is same bolt pattern? I can't see why not, have been told starter bolts up on opposite sides of the engine.
