I bought my 2003 three weeks ago. I think it has the V-6 that uses flex fuel. I figured it out by the VIN number. The engine letter was a K. Am I right?

I have no idea what flex fuel is or where I can get it. (Sorry for my ignorance.) By running regular unleaded in it will my mpg suffer? My wife has an '02 V-6 and mpg ave. is 18-20. Not to bad. My '03 is 11-12 mpg. Yes I know weather, driving style, ect... will affect it also but by that much? I've been planning to do a tune up once it warms up a bit but now I'm wondering if this has something to do with it?

Please help,

Barry

Flex Fuel means it can burn ethanol (E-85). Your fine with good old 87 octane gasoline. Your MPG will suffer the higher the ethanol content in the fuel. Since ethanol does not contain as much energy as gas, you will get 20-30% less fuel millage with E-85.

curious ? why 89 octane ??? whats wrong with 87 ??

is there somthing i am missing ??

My bad, I mean 87, It's 1:00am and I'm still working.
