2004 Explorer Rough Idle with Check Engine light

While driving down the road, my explorer acted like it was losing power or about to stall. I pulled over, the check engine light was on and it was rough idling and shaking badly. Then it shut off. Whenever I start the explorer, it idles roughly but gets better when I accelerate and only has problems when idling, then its shuts off. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum! That sort of situation is very vague and could be a wide variety of things. What exactly is the check engine light for? Normally idle issues on this vehicle are related to a vacuum leak coming from the intake manifold. You best bet would be to post up the CEL codes and see what people say.
