Hi all, I have this vehicle, new to me and it's radiator leaks. I also heard it's common. Any suggestions as to how to proceed? Aftermarket, Ford, etc...
The radiators are aluminum with plastic tanks. Aluminum is excellent at heat dispersal, and plastic is cheap. Heat at the radiator intake deteriorates the plastic tank on that side. Not worth repairing. These radiators are disposable, and usually last eight to ten years.
My advice: just get a cheap aftermarket replacement. You do not need anything heavy duty ... These radiators perform well (until plastic detiorates over time). You can install yourself. This site and YouTube have great informational tutorials.
