2006 4.0 A/C compressor keeps cycling

Like the title says. I’ve got a 06 Eddie Bauer 4.0, electronic climate control, rear climate control, with 150k on the odometer. I noticed the other day that the AC wasn’t working. I bought a refill can and per the gauge it has an adequate fill. The only issue is that the compressor keeps cycling on/off every 3-5 seconds and won’t stay engaged.

I’m not too familiar with AC systems so just looking for a good starting point.

I understand the gauge on those refill can are not always accurate. Mine was cycling very quickly and when I got the right amount, it stopped doing that. It may be something else though.

What is the outside air temperature? When it was short cycling.
What is inside vent temperature, when AC is on?

Go to Harbor Freight and buy a set of AC manifolds. That way you can see exactly what is going on.
