2006 Explorer, v6, auto, starts right up, push the brake and it shifts right out of park and then it doesn't choose a gear. Shifter itself feels very light in the hand and doesn't feel like it's going thru gears. Is there a shifter cable or plastic clip or something that may have broken?

yes, cable and MLPS - manual lever position sensor. Look it up on google for 5R55S

Update. A new bushing from bushingfix.com fixed it! After I changed it it did pop off once again, but I didn't realize you really have to shove the bushing on. Now it's as good as new and only cost $35 vs $125 for the whole new cable and was only about a 10 minute job!!!
