Just hit 40,000 miles and the Airbag Readiness Light came on. Wife drove it last friday for about 2 miles, and by the way she is about 12 inches shorter than me so she pulled the seat forward. I got in it to go to work and had to move seat back. As soon as I started the thing up the Airbag Readiness Light (ARL) came on as normal with the rest of the instument light cluster, and then went off for about 2 seconds and then came back on to stay. Does this every time I start it up now. Dealer wants 90 bucks to "check" the computer. Any help would be great.

I will find this interesting, because I had the same thing happen to me, but mine went off the next time I started it. I have 41,x.. miles on mine. My truck was sitting at the airport for 2 nights in temps ranging 0-15 F. When I left the airport the light was on for the 20 mile drive home. Once I got home I turned off the truck and re-started it and it hasnt been on since.

I had the same problem last year in the cold weather. The dealer checked it out, cleared some codes ? If you set something on the passenger seat, it can cause the air bag light to come one, and it takes about ten cycles for it to go off.

Just a point of clarification, the air bag light is not a readiness light but rather a warning light telling you something is wrong.

I know the light above the radio will be on if there is something light weight in the pass. front seat. Mine was the actual light on the gauge cluster.

yes, you are right. the problem i was having was not the airbag light, it was the airbag readiness light on the instrument cluster. its a yellow man sitting with a yellow circle infront of the person. anyways, i took mine to the dealer....and thank god, the restraint systems and emmisions system are covered under warranty 5/50000 so mine was within the warranty. no cost to me, they used their computer to read/reset the system. ordered a seat position sensor and something else not sure what it was, but at least i dont have to pay................

no airbag lights for me, about to pass 42K miles

i totaled my 92 and recently purchased an 06. My airbag readiness light came on this morning and wont go off. My vehicle is just out of warranty. Did they say exactly what was the cause for the light to come on?
