2006 ford explorer charging system

Went driving in my SUV and was braking to turn and as I approached the turn lost power steering and engine shut off description on dash said check charging system rolled to stop and turned key off and started engine back up and started and ran just fine on way home any ideas of why this May have happened

I know these newer cars wont run on just the battery like in the past, sounds like an alternator issue, if it were a wire/connection issue it would do it often id think but you never know.

Pull the code stored in the system and then you will have a much better idea of what happened.
