I am posting from my hotel room at the 2007 Chile Challenge in Las Cruces, NM. I am having an awesome time out here and next year I want to see some Explorers out here! (Although this may be the last one due to land issues :( )There is only 1 1st gen Explorer that I have seen and it is from Tx, white 4 dr with nice f&r bumpers. I will try and get a picture of it tomorrow but my group pulled out of staging before I could snap one. I did manage to put my Explorer on the RTI at base camp, I couldnt let all the Jeeps in my group have all the fun :D

Tons of awesome ($$$) equipment out here, Sonny with the original Scorpion buggy that started it all to Walker Evans of Walker Evans Racing is out here running trails.

We ran an Extreme trail today, Patz. Revenge, and our particular group was the smallest of all the rigs in the group with 35s.

Zuki on 49" Iroks, yes those are 49's!

My ride for the past 2 days has been in this clean rig

Later in the day I met up with another buddy of mine and we messed around on the same trail with 3 rigs - yellow CJ, narrowed Dodge truck and a M715 with rockwells and rear steer.

Brian looks like fun, im going to state now and was actually out there. I saw all the jeeps but wasnt sure what was going on. Next year if it happens maybe ill go out.

Great pics Brian.

Why didn't take the Jeep and run it?

Thanks. Left the Jeep at home on jackstands w/ a grenaded front Detroit Locker. All fixed now though. I may go back down there with some friends in June. We were talking about it today.

I never did get pics of the elusive Explorer that was down there :(

Joey, you should have called me! Wish I would have known you were down there. I could have found you a ride.

Yeah i know, it would have been a blast. Im still working down here at the distribution center on the weekends until i can find good work down there. May be a while, but im doing good in school which is the main reason im there. Well and a girl. haha.. Still intrested in working on my ex? I wanna get it going so bad, just dont have the time. Got the money though. lol

Thanks. No video

The group I was with (mostly Jeeps) had the following:

Thurs:
Rollover -dented hood and fender
1 slashed tire
1 blown bead

Fri:
4 tire valve stems ripped out on a single Jeep within 15'
2 slashed tires
1 D44 axle short side inner shaft
1 tie rod bent
some minor body damage
1 ripped off the frame track bar and controll arm mount
1 ripped off the axle track bar
Seperated front driveshaft 3 different times on 1 Jeep

Saturday:
1 cooked tranny that had to be towed out of the trail for about 15 miles to the trailer
1 Clutch linkage lost a bolt but easily repaired

 I still don't know why Rick hasn't made it out to Las Cruces to wheel with the Las Cruces 4wd Club. :D
It's not that far from Phoenix. :P

He's scared!!! :D

No invites:dunno:
Poor excuse.
LOL, I invited you once. I'm just giving you a hard time Rick. :D

But, they have some nice trails that would be a challenge to your truck.
I hope they are able to keep the trails open there.

Brian, nice photos! Having lived (stationed) in NM for several years it's nice to see and remember just how difficult some of the terrain is. Is this the Las Cruces and surrounding area? I'm trying to remember where the Chili challenge is at. Crazy to see some slightly modded Rubi's out there too! Any chances of you making it up to CO. to wheel this summer? Moab? I hope to see you and your folks sometime soon.

Douglas, the trails are all west of I25 and North of I10 between Las Cruces and Radium Springs.

Yeah I will be coming up to Colorado probably twice this summer/fall to wheel. I will also be in Moab and my parents are coming too.

That's a cool area... although seriously crazy during monsoons and lightning storms.

Cool it'll be nice to meet up with you. :)
