Hi, my 2007 4.6 Explorer brake booster failed after 10 years, hissing, hard pedal, ABS and traction control lights on, DTCs P1285 and B1342. After removing it, I found engine oil inside (not brake fluid). Anyone knows why?

OEM replacement works fine, but I´m concerned it may get filled with engine oil.

Regards!

It's got to be brake fluid. Unless you have forced induction there's no reason oil should exit a vacuum tube.

Old brake fluid turns brown/black'ish. Odds of engine oil ending up in your booster is highly improbable - there's a check valve in place and Its connected directly to a heavy vacuum source which is fed from the intake.

I would check the piston side of the master and ensure its not leaking into the booster.

I guess the more appropriate question would be how much brake fluid ended up in the engine
