2007 Ford Explorer XLT
I currently have a 2007 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0L SOHC, vin E, V6 which needs a new engine. I was reading online and as far as i understand any 4.0L SOHC engine is compatible so that would mean any ford explorer xlt engine between 2006-2008 is compatible with my 2007 ford. Is this true or do i need an exact 2007 ford engine. I've already taken out the old damaged engine

Any 4.0l SOHC will fit from 97 to 2010 from a ranger, explorer, sport trac, land rover or mustang. Keep your old motor until you are done because you need to strip the replacement to a long block and transfer your components over.

I have a 2007 that was flex-fuel, and swapped in a Vin E 4.0L from a 2005 Explorer XLT. I have had no issues.
