Hi everyone, was just wondering if any of you have lifted your explorer and added on new longer steering knuckles to help with clearance? For hunting season, I sometimes need to run tire chains and want to make sure I have clearance for next year !!

Let me know IF and what you have purchased !!

Thanks

What do you mean by longer steering knuckles?

By lifting the suspension, you're pushing down the lower control arm and forcing the upper control arm to pivot down and stress out the ball joint. by implementing extended steering knuckles you're compensating for the missing length.

I don't think the extended steering knuckle will actually increase your clearance, maybe you're thinking about a spindle lift? The spindle is moved down lower on the knuckle giving you a lift.

Very hard to believe that someone making extended knuckles for this vehicle.
As far as i know the only options here for the lift bolt on solutions is the strut spacers and the extended uca's.
If you want to get more rim backspace for the wheel chains buy negative offset aftermarket rims

I have already added the spacer lift and was hoping they made an extended steering knuckle to lower the angle of the upper control arm to the attachment position. If they don't offer something of this sort maybe a wheel spacer might give clearance enough for tire chain clearance worries.

I was just hoping someone had already done something that solve this minimal clearance concern from tire to knuckle.
