2008 explorer 4x4. Im pretty sure the rear wheel bearings need to be replaced. I’m getting a load growling sound at 40-50 mph. The front hubs/bearings have been replaced already. Passenger side with a OEM motorcraft brand and the driver with a timken brand.

As far as the rears go, I will probably go the route of using a loaded knuckle for ease of replacement. What brand is good for the rear loaded nuckles?

I have seen motorcraft brand for just the bearings but I don’t have access to a press. I haven’t found any motorcraft branded loaded knuckles.

Loaded knuckle brands I am finding are Moog, Dorman, SKP, WJB and ultra power. Also I I noticed on some of the WJB hubs, they say it’s “heavy duty” Are they any better than motorcraft?

moog is good brand, the rest are mixed bag in my expefience with other things that arent hubs

Ive used loaded Moog knuckles.they are chinese, the bearing is "National" brand, chinese too so keep in mind.

No any issues so far

Sorry to share so late but I have an SKP loaded rear knuckle coming Thursday to replace on my Mounty. I've used SKP suspension components before and haven't had any major issues so far and they have over 25k on them now. I'm changing my knuckle because I destroyed the upper lateral link bushing in the knuckle like an idiot and rather than heat up and fight to get it out for 20 bucks I just saved some dough and paid 200 for a 6 bolts replace. Also eases the mind to know that 200k mile bearing is going to be replaced as well as partially faulty parking brake hardware :)

I replaced both rear knuckles with Moog brand. Much quieter now. We will see how they hold up.

figured I'd update this. I had to replace driver side rear wheel bearing so i got a loaded moog knuckle. been just over a year and the bearing went bad. instead of replacing it under warranty, i said screw it and got a cheap 20-ton press then got a timkin bearing and hub and pressed that into the moog knuckle. so i did not have a good experience with moog, hope this one's better

thanks for the update but you do not even need a press! 1 GALLON of rubbing alcohol and 1 lb of dry ice will do the job. Freeze the bearing about 1 hr..then simply pop it in location. 1 little TAP with a brass hammer to seat it.....key word LITTLE TAP. You can use average leather work gloves to hold bearing. Make sure everything is very clean apply some kind of grease to knuckle hole.
