Ok guys I don't know how this thread never got started, but I'm seeing christmas adds on TV, which to means a christmas tree I get to buy and throw in a huge bon fire in a few months!:D

So when do we want to do the run here, I'd like to see the run get moved back closer to MLK so we can go back to burning the christmas trees, this is really a highlight of this run I think...besides, we have a recored of 14 to beat;)

Seeing as how I'm having a kid in late Jan. it will be hard for me to make this run, however! I plan to still plan to make a apperence, even if it's just to join in a awsome as always potluck and a nice little campfire:salute:

Information about Truck Haven

Truck Haven is a huge playground for off-road vehicles. There are trails for everyone, from mild, to wild. This is a great place to test your driving abilities as well as the capabilities of your Explorer. You can see the kind of fun we've had during previous events by checking out a Trip Report from a previous run :)

Vehicle damage: There is always a possibility of vehicle damage any time you go offroading. Damage could be to the body, or mechanical.

Normally, the majority of participants camp at our Truck Haven base camp.

There are NO facilities available at Truck Haven. Camping is primitive with no water, toilets or showers available. If you have a porta potty bring it. A 5 gallon bucket with a plastic bag will work well :D

Bring everything you will need. Everyone is also requested to bring firewoodto add to our traditional BIG campfire. If you can't bring any don't worry about it, but the more we have, the bigger the fire:D

Bring your own cooking supplies. If you don't have any you can probably share someone else's grill.

There is a small grocery store, a Mexican Restaurant, and a burger shop (Superburger) in Salton City. Both restaurants are very good.

There is gas in Salton City and also at a new truck stop just West of North Marina Drive.

Weather conditions in October usually consist of hot days and cool to cold nights, rain could be present. High winds, and driving dust storms are always possible. Come prepared!

Hotel Accommodations
Here is a list of hotels in Indio, Salton Sea and Borrego Springs.
Sandy and I stayed at the Dead Link Removed before and thought is was adequate and the price was reasonable. :)
If you want Class and you have the cash, the La Casa Del Zorro is the place to go.
Here is a site for Borrego Springs where you can also check out the prices and what the other places look like.
One other thing I'd like to mention is October thru June is the peak season around there and alot of "Snow Birds" frequent this area, so don't wait too long if you are looking for a room.

I prefer MLK weekend also. I get Monday off, since it's an official holiday for the Lab..

Like you said, we have a record to break.. :D

Stic-o
I would love to make the run with you guys but i am on the other side of the US ... i really just wanted to say congrats on the kid!.. i am expecting a kid in the end of December

Didnt mean to highjack the thread or anything but just wanteed to say congrats and that i would love to make the run with you guys .... maybe someday!!

I will try to be there. I just have to make sure everything on the rig is up to doing it again.;)

I have all of February off, so I vote for some time then.

i'll be there too which date ya'll decide on is good for me.

hmmm wonder how many xmas trees i can collect :D

I'm in. I got 2 years of tax papers to donate to the fire. I forgot to bring them this year:D

When is MLK. I don't keep track of holidays. I'm either working including holidays or free. When is it so I can block that weekend.

A concern for some has always been Superbowl Sunday. Is that the same weekend as MLK next year?

Cool...

Then let's shoot for MLK weekend, Jan 19-20:chug:

I should be there. Maybe I'll even make a round through Navy housing and collect all their trees too!:D

I plan to still plan to make a apperence, even if it's just to join in a awsome as always potluck and a nice little campfire:salute:

Ok I may have to retract this statement:rolleyes: Run 19-20 baby due 23rd...yeah that's not happing:( and if I get this new job I will be in utah then to somehow:confused:

You guys pick a date and I'll figure out how to make it.:salute:

I'm out, Jan. just got crazy for me. I don't have any weekends free. I already have 5 seminars booked. :confused:If any thing changes I'll post.

Corva's run is Jan 26-27, so we should be good to go!

Im in depending on the weekend, might even have both the front and rear done by then and not just the front.....

hmmm but what i've always heard about shops doing suspension is thatit takes forever to get your car back! but i hope you get it done and come out, so i can ride with you through the washes :D

Saturday night we will be having a potluck dinner with a twist. Everyone should bring their own meat and beverages, but also bring a side dish or desert or favorite treat for all to share. The potluck has been a lot of fun and very tasty in the past!

Bring your own cooking supplies. If you don't have any you can probably share someone else's grill.
