I know over the past few years, we discussed the 3rd row power fold seats, hear me out an give me some feed back on what you have experienced or have done about this issue. Heres my quick story; purchased my Ex ltd last Aug 2011, during the pre delivery I mentioned my 3rd row seat was not level when folded flat (left side higher than right by 3/4" or so.
The sales. Person and I looked at other Limiteds and found 2 other ltd's on the lot, one had them flat and even, the other was off by 1/2". I don't remember what others on the forum have stated or said, but I would like to have this posted as a sticky maybe to get a overall reading of this issue.

I have had, like others spent to much time at the dealer getting thing,s fixed that are plane bad designs by the Ford Engineers that don't want to take responsibility for such issues.

My dealer has had my vehicle for 3 days now trying to fix the glove box rattle, omg for the 5th time.

Cory, I'll send a PM but I don't need any of this information going to atammy the regional rep. If I wanted the company line of we can't fix this issue ( 3rd row seat issue), because the engineers say that all Ex ltd have this issue, I stated everyone, how would you know this?

So there's my issue let me know your opinions guys, this another issue that's not getting address in my opinion.

P n J:mad:

Our 3rd row seats fold flat. Don't know what else to say, other than the "That is normal" line is getting very old.

Mine are off. Was told it's because of the power fold and most of them are like that.

Pretty cool when they admit that a special feature of their car is defective, and add that most of the examples are defective. Nice

This rates right up there with the robots putting most of the tailgates on crooked!

My 3rd row seats are flat and level when folded up.

Mine are flat and level when up, also.

My 3rd row seats are in the fold flat group.

Joining the fold flat group.

I guess there is going to be a small % on the production line that don't get installed just right ... just like the lift gates. In a perfect word, none with our rides would be wrong.

Maybe at another dealer you will find the right repair tech who understands the mechanics of the pivot points and can make the proper adjustment to remedy you concern.

I was at two dealers and both said it's normal. The first dealer told me they looked at every limited on the lot and they were all off.

I have a 2013 and haven't noticed them being off

I wonder if the cushions or seat covers are to blame for the descrepancies? Could be similar to a new piece of furniture and needs to be "broken in".

My seats fold flat.

Ummm...pardon me Scott, but we don't use the 'Broken' word around our Explorers :)

No worries, I did sandbox it in with quotes :/
How about - worn in gracefully?

I just checked my third row seats. Add me to the fold flat group.

Sounds good everyone, well picked up my ride from the dealer, fixed the rattle in the glove box, this time they stated the light, and clips were the issue. My plastic sensor cover back in place above the mirror. 3rd row power fold seats, no change, Service Director says there is no fix from Ford, this is Normal.
In my conference call with him and Tammy the regional customer service person, stated that Ford Technical had no fix, will have to live with it. Service director said all 11 new Exlplorers had the same issue, well when picking up the ex today, I asked the service manager to show me the 11 new explorers, he suddenly had some other things to do and disappeared. The Service advisor gave me the master key for the lock boxes on the new Ex's on the lot, off I went to take pics of the 3rd row folded down.
Too my surprise, I checked 4 of the 5 ltds that had the 3 rd row power fold seats ( service adviser showed up to help) GUESS WHAT, they were all FLAT, yes FLAT! Not surprised I knew this.
So I asked Tammy ( called her) have you ever seen pics of my seat from my dealer, pause. That would be no!, I sent pictures of all the new Ex's at the dealer, then mine almost off 1 inch. Got the customer service stroke, I'll see what happens, call you next week. Time to go to another dealer, and I'm not holding my breath with Tammy either. , maybe we can post some pics to the Ford Engineers, if they are the issue. Any ideas everyone.

Thank you all, Perry

Add me to the flat list. Must say that I had to go out and look. Don't know if I would have noticed 3/4 inch or been concerned if you hadn't posted about it. Did you try putting some weight on it for a couple days to see if it would stay down? How do you know it's higher and not the other one is lower?

Gwa, yes forgot to mention, that yes, the right side looks actually lower compared to the new ones I inspected, so my left side would be normal, and right side being low. The reason I looked at this was the pre delivery inspection checklist someone posted on our forum, before I ok delivery. Otherwise I don't think I would have noticed either.

Do you have the link for that checklist? I'd definitely love to check that out!
