2011 XLT Manual Liftgate Stuck

Hello all!

Had the problem for awhile now and I’ve searched for a solution here and there, but it’s becoming more and more inconvenient and I need help.

The rear hatch is locked shut and won’t open. When I push the button to open it in the rear, I can hear it wanting to open but it’ll only pull out maybe 1/2 and inch and is stuck shut. Im moving soon and an going to need to use it to pack stuff up so any and all help is greatly appreciated!

It sound like it unlocks. If that is the case and won't budge further, it could be an issue with the strut(s) being seized. I don't recall your specific case being posted here before. Not sure how you'd get at them if they are the problem. Unless someone else has any ideas, you may have to get the dealer or a garage to look at it.

As silly as this may sound, I'd climb into the 3rd row, fold down the passenger side seat and then position yourself to give it a good kick/push with your feet. I agree with Peter in that one of the gas struts is probably seized.
