I have my explorer at the dealership for the rear main seal, second one in 2 months. My problem is the first dealership got shut down a week after the repair. I took it to another dealer and they told me it was just an oil pan gasket. They replaced the gasket and realized it was the rear seal again. I suspect that it was just the rear seal the whole time leaking onto the pan making it unclear where the leak was coming from. Well tomorrow will be 2 weeks without the can and this dealership wants me to pay for the pan gasket but will cover the other work since it was just done. I think they should cover it all as I'm sure if they would of fixed the actual leak the first time the pan gasket wouldn't of needed to be replaced.
I am going to try to fight them on this, but since they weren't the ford dealer that repaired the first time I'm thinking it might be a struggle. Am I thinking right?
The first repair, along with an intake gasket, and vaccum pump were all covered by an aftermarket warranty. Needless to say I'm a little fed up with oil leaks on this car.
