2012 Explorer

2012 Delivery time

OK, so we ordered our 2012 about a month ago. I was informed a couple of days ago that production is delayed due to the BLIS. When I inquired further, I was told the hold is due to the seat belts that now come packaged with the BLIS. Does anyone (Ford reps?) have info on this problem?? Thanks

I've seen the dark blue on other Fords not on the 12s yet.

Kona is lighter in shade & has the purple tint, the dark blue doesn't have as much metal flake, so doesn't reflect as much. Definitely doesn't have the same tint as the kona.

I finally saw the X in Dark Blue Pearl and its definitely more like a standard dark blue then Kona. I waited weeks for it to come in to see if i would like it better then the Red Candy and although i like the blue I feel the Red Candy is more flashy and bright, which i like.

And i know you'll think i'm crazy but i dont like how the Ford emblem looks on the dark blue colored grill (on the limited).

I wanted to snap a picture but it was in the shade and it the color would not have been represented well using my iphone camera.

Kittyclem,
I looked into this and found that at this point we figure the delay to be short on this issue, but we have not been given details. Did you know I can research your order status if you send me a private message with your VIN (if available) or order number & dealer info? :)

My dealer finally got my order in today. Does anyone know what happens from here (next steps by Ford, when firmer dates will be known, etc.). Also, are orders filled on a first come, first served basis? Or does it have anything to do with LTD vs. XLT, FWD vs. 4WD, ordering dealer, region, etc.? Thanks.

Congratulations on placing your order, dbrook1! :) The next step is that the Explorer will be scheduled and assigned a VIN. This process has to do with each order’s options and the system grouping them automatically to calculate the fastest production time. Even though you won’t have your VIN yet, send me a PM with your order number & dealer name / dealer code (if you know it) and I’ll be happy to research your current status. :)

Thanks Cory. I have sent you the PM.

I've never ordered a vehicle before so I'm not aware if other manufacturers have someone so willing/available to assist a "Regular Joe". Regardless, Ford owners/prospective owners are lucky to have access to you and the other FordCustSvc people on this board. THANKS!

dbrook1,
I think you’ll see that you made a great choice going with the Explorer. :) I also really appreciate your kind words! I’ll research your order and message you back with what I find when I can get to your PM. :D
