I see in a few of the new posters 2013 vehicles that the console media hub now has a cutout for the cables. When did this start showing up as my 2013 was built August 18th and I don't have it.

Im wondering how hard it would be to swap that out?

Not hard at all. It's just a parts order. The whole thing has to be ordered. Covering. It's all one piece.

My 2013 Sport doesn't have this cutout.

01/13

Mine is a 12/12 build and it does not have it.

My '13 with build date of 11/30/2012 does not have it either.... looks handy.

My Sport does have it, built mid january. My wife's 2013 XLT doesn't have it. Not sure of her build date as we bought hers off the lot.

Looks like a running change shortly after the 1st of the year. That finish panel is not cheap, about $360 retail.

That's interesting.

my '13 sport has a build date of 2/13 and indeed has it.

Crystal can you please advise us of the part number for this new design

Just picked up my Sport last night, mine has the cutout as well....the salesman even made a comment on it.

There are at least 7 different versions depending on trim color and ambient lighting. You will need to find a similar '13 model built with the cut-out and use the vin number from that to get the correct part.

Hi Sgt1411,

Riley is right - it looks like there are a lot of options depending on your specific model. You can enter your information at http://www.fordparts.com and look at the console options there. Additionally, you can call the service department at your new dealership and they can steer you in the right direction.

Thanks for helping out, Riley!

The panel looks to be the exact same for all options besides the different color options. I just took mine apart and the cup holders and shifter trim are all screwed to the basic trim panel. I bet it is the same exact part but sadly I'm sure you can only buy it as in assembly, so instead of a $20-$30 part we are at $300. Too Bad, Guess Its time to make my own cut out.

Very nicely done.........looks OEM

Your OCD is worse then mine!

No media hub cut-out? No problem. I made my own.
Take a fine rat tail round file and file the DOOR edge.
Make sure you mask off all the surrounding area so you don’t end up scratching or whacking anything. Take your time. File away until the cord has plenty of clearance and the door closes easily. My cut-out came out fine and smooth. Simple job. Looks “factory”. Problem solved. Total cost : $ 00.00 .

I am attempting a link to a photo.

No luck. Sorry. Not working.

LOL... Thanks... So very sadly true. I wish I could have just used a drill and took 5 min but I would always look at it and not be satisfied that it doesn't match the stock one even though the drill method looks great too . Its a sickness!
